After the success of Season 1 we're back with Wrap Up Hunger Season 2
Last year, with the help of 1600 participants, we were able to provide meals to over 91,000 underprivileged children. Due to the incredible success of Wrap Up Hunger with Asahi Kasei Season 1, we are now back with Season 2 in partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to continue combating food wastage and fight classroom hunger.

What is Wrap Up Hunger with Asahi Kasei?
Extra chapatis, rice, leftover curries and even sabjis from the previous night — most of these food items end up in the dustbin in a majority of Indian households.
What we fail to consider is that every morsel of food wasted could potentially aid in somebody else’s nourishment.
According to the UN Hunger Report, although the world produces enough food to feed the entire global population, still as many as 811 million people go hungry every day.
As per the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Food Waste Index Report, 2021, 61% of food waste comes from households.
In a bid to make a real difference, Asahi Kasei has joined hands with the notable non-profit organization, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, for its noble cause of feeding the hungry by introducing the ‘Wrap Up Hunger With Asahi Kasei’ initiative. Through this social media campaign, we seek to help reduce food wastage as well as support eliminating the prevalent issue of classroom hunger by helping provide a meal to underprivileged children. You can be a part of this noble cause and provide a meal to an underprivileged school child just by posting a picture.

The Premium Wrap is made of PVDC plastic i.e. Polyvinylidene chloride. PVDC is capable of blocking about 2.5 times more moisture and retains about 200 times higher oxygen using lesser plastic than regular plastic materials like PE (Poly Ethylene) or PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride). It has a special in-built cutter which allows you to cut only the quantity required thus reducing the excess usage of plastics which is not required than any other cling film.
This unique feature enables us to minimize the use of plastic in our Premium Wrap and the production of excess plastic waste. It also reduces food wastage by keeping the stored food fresh for longer. In India according to UN report per household food wastage is 50 kg per year. We are working towards the goal to reach out to consumers to reduce food wastage. Simultaneously, we are also initiating to help the government with Plastic Waste management as an EPR activity.
